You know the call.  The one you dread.  The one you fear.

An 80-year-old woman in Japan received that call.  The lonely elderly woman from Hokkaido island had met this great guy on a social media app in July, but he found himself in an impossible situation.  He told the woman he was an astronaut stranded “in a spaceship right now” which was “under attack and in need of oxygen,”

She had no idea he was an Astronaut and now he was “stranded on a besieged spacecraft and needed money to buy oxygen.”  So, She kindly sent the “astronaut” roughly $6,700 to fill his lungs.  But now the police are working to confirm the situation, but she may have lost her life savings.

Really – you think?  How do you confirm this situation?  You reach out to NASA and ask if there was an alien attack on a space craft?  Maybe, email the dating site and see if they have customers in space?   Nope, more likely they just call the phone company and ask how their Japan – Space connectivity is?

A French woman was suckered out of $850,000 by a romance scammer pretending to be an ailing Brad Pitt, who used AI-generated selfies of the Hollywood heartthrob in a hospital bed to tug at her heartstrings.

We have to look out for each other, especially those more vulnerable.  People who are predators, will only ever care about themselves and always view you as a victim to target.  We have to stay vigilant and on guard, especially as AI becomes more honed and used.
