Today I sat in a consult speaking with a great guy really looking for some business advice. He said you must hear some crazy stuff in the conference room. We do hear some crazy situations and wonder how that occurred, but I have never had a condiment inspired crime presented to me.This past week in the town of Los Palacios y Villafranca, Spain, a man in his 50s has been arrested after he set fire to a café when staff refused to add mayonnaise to his sandwich, forcing customers, including children and the elderly, to flee the flames.
Local media reported that the man had twice asked café staff to add mayonnaise, but they explained the establishment had no kitchen and served only pre-made sandwiches.
After his request was denied again, he went to a nearby gas station, bought a liter and a half of gasoline, and returned to douse the café before setting it alight.
The blaze caused damages estimated at €8,000 to €9,000, according to Spanish newspapers.
“He asked one waiter, then another, and finally a third time he was told the same thing, that we didn’t have mayonnaise,” said José Antonio Caballero, owner of Las Postas café.
“He then went to the station across the street, came back with a bottle in his hand, and asked again: ‘Are you sure you don’t have mayonnaise?’ Before the waiter could answer, he set the place on fire.”
No one was injured except the suspect, who suffered burns. Police quickly arrived at the scene, arrested him, and took him to a medical center for treatment. Authorities said he is expected to appear before a judge in the coming days.
In conclusion, seriously? Two things here:
1. If you need mayonnaise that badly, you just need to carry it around with you. – AND-
2. He left, bought gas, came back, asked for mayo, and then set a fire. Why did he not just buy mayo? It is probably cheaper than the gas he bought right? The saddest part, is it does not even sound like he got to eat his sandwich before being burnt and arrested. In his defense, he just wanted his sandwich toasted and things got a little out of hand. That cheese was probably perfectly melted, with a slight char to the bread. The poor guy did not even get a bite of lunch, no wonder he was hangry.
Legal tip: If you are hangry, don’t burn down the restaurant. That is your free legal advice for the day, but if you need further consultation just give us a call at 843-357-9301.
May God Bless You, Your Business, and the United States of America,
