We ask you to bring a dish to share and a donation to show you care for our community and partners at St James Health and Wellness. All canned food and money donations will go towards our "Give 'em the Bird" event, where we will be providing 25 families with their Thanksgiving meal on November 18th.
Ella Knowles Haskell
Praise for the ācommon manā is all too common in the world. Itās the āuncommonā man (or woman) for whom we ought to be most grateful.
A perfect example of an uncommon woman is Ella Knowles Haskell (1860-1911). Born in New Hampshire, she moved to Montana in 1888 at the age of 28 to relieve her tuberculosis and lived in the Treasure State for the remaining two decades of her life.

Again and Again
The Colorado Supreme Court agreed to hear the case against Christian cake baker Jack Phillips, which he says is the "light at the end of the tunnel" after more than 11 years in court.
Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado, declined to create a custom cake for a same-sex wedding in a move that sparked a 2012 lawsuit that ultimately landed him at the U.S. Supreme Court. In 2018, the nine justices ruled that the state of Colorado was hostile to Phillipās religious beliefs and that the government canāt force anyone to create custom works of art that communicate a message.
Government Interference with the Laws of Economics
Nearly two years ago we wrote about the South Carolina Certificate of Need Law, which limits the amount of medical providers to a governmentally determined geography. The thought was we need to incentivize and protect hospitals to go into certain areas. Of course this counters the natural law of Economics; Supply and Demand. Very Simply - if you decrease supply (by eliminating competition) prices go up. Hello high medical prices.

Illegal Street Food
The War on "illegal" Street Food has been going on for more than 100 years. It is not just tacos. There are also illegal tamales. Look at this headline from a story last year in the Los Angeles Times: "450 illegal tamales from Mexico seized at LAX and āincineratedā".
